Excellent pathway opportunities are here!

Overview

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority has set a common standard for entrance to university.

Student will be qualified for entrance to a university in New Zealand if they have obtained 42 credits at level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework, including a minimum of 14 credits at level 3 or higher in each of two subjects from the “approved subjects” list, with a further 14 credits at level 3 or higher taken from one or two additional domains on the National Qualifications Framework or approved subjects. A further 14 mathematic credits at Level 1 and 8 literacy credits at level 2 from a schedule of approved unit standards are also needed.

A student who gains these credits is eligible to apply for entrance to a New Zealand university. Individual universities and their different courses may have further entrance criteria to be met.

Canterbury Link College offers a Certificate in Tertiary Studies Preparation (Level 3) which when successfully completed allows a student to gain the necessary credits to meet the entrance standard.

On completion of the computing component, students will be familiar with a personal computer and able to produce workplace documents on it. They will also have an understanding of the ethical and social implications relating to the use of computers in a business setting.

Those awarded credits for the literacy component will be able to demonstrate that they can read and write at a level which allows them to pursue university studies while the mathematical component shows the student can perform a range of calculations successfully.
